Man, we are going to have one heck of a party next April.
Wulfy, any suggestions on what kinda trouble we can get into in LA next year?

It depends on if you're going to commandeer the stage like I am and lead the audience in singing Ed Sheeran's "I See Fire."

Got a lot done today for my Q3 entry (for me). Got some research sorted, 1000 words written, and also worked out almost all the empty places in my outline. I'm jacked.

Gahhh, you guys are leaving me in the dust! I'm still trying to finish my Q2, which is driving me crazy today because all I'm having is thoughts about what to do with my budding novel. This is objectively unhelpful.
On the up side, if you guys show up in Hollywood without me, you'll be close enough that I can hit you with a well aimed rock. On the down side, I throw like a girl, so it actually won't do me any good anyway.

Re: Discussion: Q3 Volume 36
Do you plan to query your novel or indie-publishing? I'm going indie way on my first novel. So, that means I'm not out of WOTF contest until I've sold 5000 print copies? I'm purposefully delaying my novel launch to try my hand at the contest.

My current plan is to query, but I'm still researching it, and finding out all I can. These days, the landscape for things can change pretty quickly, so until I'm actually ready to pull the trigger, I'll keep my decision up in the air.

Alas not, I had to put it aside due to sudden time constraints. I have a fall-back story that I'll be sending out for Q2 instead, and the story I had intended to be my Q2 entry will be pushed back, and then I'll finish the revisions on it so I can submit it for Q3.

I still have no idea what kind of story I'll be aiming for, this quarter.
I'll get there eventually, I'm sure.

Yes, I seem to be having that same problem. I start something. Get 500+ words into it. And then...yuck. <Repeat>
<sigh>
I know it's not writer's block because I am writing. Must be my diet. Yeah, that's it.

Well, after watching the awards ceremony, I feel I need to get thinking about Q3.
It's just that I've grown aware of so many who have previously had SHM, SF, F and even published finalist. T'ain't easy, is it? Or should I say - looks easier for some.
(And as fantastic as it all looks, I can't say I'd want to that speech bit! mmm... perhaps I'll retreat to my shell.)

I am 4K+ into Q3 now. Though, when I started it was going one way, then I added a whole new beginning and now its taking a diverted but parallel path to the original. Excited to see how this one will turn out.

Still pounding on the keys in a criminal fashion to get as much of my novel written, just in case I make the Crime Writers Awards shortlist in May.

Ooo. Crime Writers Award. Nice. I would like to read your winning story for that one.
I was unaware you had another poker in the fire (I think that's how the saying goes). Do what you need to do . . . Tim Bloke.

Haven't won anything yet! My shortlist was 5 years ago. Honestly hadn't got the foggiest what I was doing then and I never finished that novel. They used to judge on 1st chapter and short synopsis. Now they want a much longer synopsis so they can see if shortlisters have got a book's worth, and if you make the shortlist they may ask to see a later chapter.
My entry this time is a novel length version of the s/s I got HM for in Q4 of WotF. It was way too much to squeeze into a short. However, I've yet to see a scifi crime story make it in the CWA. Perhaps not many try and mine will stand out for being different?
We'll see.
I'll let you know it this one gets anywhere, but expect silence!
