Well done everybody. Whether you placed or not, it's the production and the submission that's important.

First time getting an HM, so I'm pretty pumped.

Congrats to everyone! Even if you didn't place, writing and submitting a story is an achievement.

Joni keeps the total number of entries secret so as not to discourage aspiring writers from entering. But Dave has publicly said "thousands" each quarter, so it's out there. As to 10% of all entries, that's not really true. HMs are merit based. They are not percentage based. As Kevin J. Anderson once told me at the Seattle WotF gala, "Even getting one HM is a BIG DEAL. They don't give those things out lightly."

Enjoy!

~Moon~

I recall Preston saying that it was said in an official blog a "few thousand" years ago but that, since that comment, have said it has grown every year. Which is why I've had 4,000 in my head as a possible number.

How do all these emails get sent out? Does Joni have to match up every single story to its owner individually and then send out each email manually? (Man, I hope not...that sounds like a metric ton of work.)

Got a honourable mention. My second one. First one last yea. A yearly thing for me huh. Lol. So HM is what? Top 100? And who knows when the certificates come in? How long? Live in Nigeria. Can't remember how long the last one took. And when can I announce? I think there's an official post on the site. When does that come out? Since I can't announce with the email, I gotta wait for that. And I am bursting to share this.

Congratulations, Pen-Prince! There can be hundreds of HMs--the count varies according to the quality. You can announce at any time after you received the notification--I see many already doing so on Facebook! The official post usually takes several weeks to compose, so you can share that as well when it comes out.

Keep writing, keep sending!
