FYI, this is Brad, logged in as the root admin.
I'm going to be making some changes to see if I can't stop some of this frocking spam.
Stay tuned...

This scene is so awkwardly legendary. Love it. Don't get it, but I laugh like hell every time.

Yup, I'm doing a little redecorating as well.
Please let me know what you think of the new color (colour?) scheme? Good or bad?

Re: Making some changes
Not bad, all in all. Looks kinda cool, though different. Looks like you are having fun

Re: Making some changes
I was wondering if you were dealing with the spam problem by installing a new version of the software.
I think the color scheme is good. If it were me, I'd go with a slightly less bold background image. Everything else that's tripping me up is something I'm sure I'll get used to after a couple of visits (e.g., the icons for whether or not there are unread posts being different now), and I can rationally see that it does look better.

Re: Making some changes
My initial reaction to all unexpected change, even good change, is to freak out.
But I'm over that now.
And if you manage to squelch the spaminators, that'll be AWESOME.

I personally like it. Rather inspiring, I would say.

I find the swirling blue quite soothing...

Re: Making some changes
I've noticed that the larger and/or more complex the background image is, the slower the page load and refresh rate is, such that clicking from thread to thread gets somewhat annoying. Looks like I will have to dial the wallpaper back to something small and simple. Though I also found the swirl to be soothing. It was a geometric distortion of the same wallpaper from the main WOTF page. Ah well.

I quite like what you've got now. The simple gradient is also quite soothing, tiles nicely, and doesn't pull focus from the content.

I'm with the others so far who say the new scheme is full of bluesy goodness!
Matches the cover to WOTF #27 too! Except ... the forum doesn't have tentacled mermaids on it, and our workshop instructor/cover artist Cliff Nielsen was very specific about the luv he put into the black squiggly octopus mermaid he painted onto the female fighter pilot's nose art and wing!

Still, even squidless, the deep blue is nice! May the tentacled mermaids take all spammers into their hooked embrace and sink them deep into the blue abyss of the deep!

Good. Thank you for confirming this. The large size of the old graphic was contributing to slow page loads, which for me isn't acceptable. Speed counts for a lot, especially with forums.
