I'm interested...after Thanksgiving. Is that too late? Or is this good through all of December?

That's not too late. I'd say "most" of December, since people are going to want to have a little time to consider comments before the deadline. Last quarter, this idea popped up pretty close to the deadline (a couple weeks, if I recall correctly, and no, I'm not going to go look at the OP to find out), and I don't recall anyone complaining about time constraints. Of course, this quarter has all the holiday chaos.

Anyone interested in a first 450 exchange for Q2?

I've got my story mostly done, but I'm struggling with the opening, and I'd love to get some feedback on it.

A two legged elephant doesn't limp. It drags.

Depends on which legs it's missing. I can also imagine an alternating hop-hop movement...

It might also just fall over. (Elephants being pretty dang heavy--so heavy, in fact, they essentially evolved an extra toe at the back of their feet.)

I guess I'll throw my hat in the ring again for my Q2 front-runner. The thing's just gathering dust (or the digital equivalent thereof) while I wait on my RL readers' feedback, so I may as well toss it out to a couple of people I don't know, right?

Anyway, give me a holler if you want to swap 450. Thanks in advance.

Hello all,

As we approach the deadline for Q2, I wanted to see if there is still anyone looking to exchange a first 450 with me. If so, let me know.

Sorry, I didn't intend to, I just needed a slick way to start the sentence, sort of a lead in. Also I work slowly enough that if I'm not in final edits a month and a half out, I might not make it, so it always feels to me like time is short.

Q2 story finished and read and re-edited after several 1st reader reviews, BUT my #1 fan doesn't like it :(

I'm hoping that it's because she's not into the science fiction genre and the story, at 9K, was possibly too long (for her).

I would be thrilled to get 3 first 450 word exchanges so that I can form a consensus.

PM or email me your details - send 450ish of your work at the same time if you email if you'd like.

Thanks

I have about half of my Q2 entry done now, and am ready to start sending out my first 450. If I've already done yours, I'll be in touch. wotf001

(If not, feel free to drop me a line! I'm kind of concerned about this one even making sense, let alone being any good.)

I owe a couple of you crits. You know who you are. I may be a day or two late (that is, tomorrow or the next day). I'm so, so sorry... A 20-page paper deadline looming, several other smaller papers, exams, and a documentary/group presentation project have me losing my mind and walking in circles.

Hope you understand. I'm in no place to give a thoughtful critique right now, but I'll try and get you one as soon as possible. Again, so sorry.
