Free Dave Farland Class

Postby mrtevebaugh » Sun Feb 21, 2021 9:00 am

Hey all, if you aren't on Dave's email list, um.... why aren't you on Dave's email list? He's pretty important in this whole contest thing and he sends out free writing advice. So stop reading and go do that right now.

With that out of the way, Dave sent an email that he has a free workshop this week for ProWritingAid, along with several other authors. It looks like there will be ads for ProWritingAid, but free is free. I copied this link from Dave's email, so hopefully he should get the credit if you sign up.

Here's the details on Dave's class:
Writing Wonder—How to Create a Fantasy World and Magical Systems
Feb 22 (2 PM ET / 7 PM UK)
Presenter: Bestselling fantasy author, David Farland

Dave will be talking about what "wonder" literature is and how you can create a sense of wonder in your own fantasy novel. He'll show you how bestselling authors combine wonder with other emotions, like romance and adventure, to create the most successful fantasy novels out there.

Damn, I missed it :( I am on his mailing list too, but this email isn't in my junk or inbox. I'll just have to sign up again! I normally can't make things because I'm in the opposite time zone, but I was up last night, so extra gutted. Still, I added 1000 words of a new scene to my book, so not all bad. I think I've seen all Dave's videos on creating a sense of wider multiple times, they're so good. How was it?

You can still sign up to ProWritingAid and watch it on replay. I signed up but couldn't watch it last night. I have a link to the replay. Oh - darn it. Looks like I'm going to have to scrap my heart-shaped planet.
Some HMs More Rs - I keep thinking I'm getting closer, but perhaps not.
CWA-Debut Dagger shortlist. https://thecwa.co.uk/colours/ (Still trying to find my genre - but perhaps it's scifi - and perhaps it's not)

For some inexplainable reason when I tried to follow, zoom failed me. I was happy to find I could watch at a later date. To those who don't know, Dave is the one picking the possible winning stories that the final judges read and place. Eight finalists, but alas, only three winners. You should listen to what he has to say.
