Success!
Success!
Writers have a place to share their writing successes, but the illustrators don’t, which is just unfair.
So here’s the thread where we can all share our art and illustration achievements. Were you hired to illustrate a story? Do cover art? Nominated for an award? Win an award? Have a gallery showing? Let us know!

Re: Success!
I was hired to do an illustration for a semi-pro antho. It's my first illustration job, and I'm so excited!
I've actually done most of it already, even though the contract hasn't come through yet. This anthology has been really transparent with their processes, though, so I'm not concerned. And even if something wonky happens an it all falls through, well, I guess I've got a piece I could send to the contest

Great idea for a thread, Marina!
P'arriba Illustrators!
"Viddy well, droogs!" (A CLOCKWORK ORANGE)

And congrats to you for your own success above!
Myself, I'm currently working on some self-paying projects for the moment, planning to e-publish / sell.
1) illustrations for short fiction
and
2) a shorter webcomix sort of thing
The theory being that in between paying art assignments (for me, still rare) we can be responsible for generating our own!

Awesome Marina!
I like that there is now an Art success thread. It did seem unbalanced.

Re: Success!
I wanted to post this at your gallery, on your Gear 3 wallpaper contest entry, but when I hit "post" DeviantArt wanted me to create an account...so I'll put it here instead:
I think that's your best piece up there, Marina. I like the others, but that one is phenomenal. It makes me pretty certain you'll win IotF at some point.
This is amazing. You really capture the intensity, and you have a mastery of perspective for depth, and of showing emotion. I love the way his index finger almost comes out of the page. Stunning work.

Re: Success!
Congratulations, Marina! And after Grayson's post, I checked out the Gears of War 3 illustration, too. Fantastic! =)
I take it you've played the game? I played Gears of War 2.

Re: Success!
Aw, thank you everyone. You all are so sweet.
The style of the "Crow" piece is largely due to the guidance of the art dirrector, and I think it fits the story really well.
I'm glad you all like the GOW illustration. I haven't played the game, but deviant art was having a big GOW3 promotional contest and I thought I's join in to see if I could do "gritty"--so it's nice to see such favorable reactions to a piece that was largely experimental.
Hugs all!
