Can't wait for this issue! Congrats you guys.
Re: Galaxy's Edge
I think I'm right in saying GE is submission by invitation only and even so they don't accept numerous submissions.
So well done you guys getting invited in the first place and super well done getting selected.
Martin and Tom will be getting used to success by now, but GEORGE YOU ARE A MEGASTAR! Well done sir!

Re: Galaxy's Edge
Tangent just put 17 Galaxy's Edge stories on their recommended list, which is not at all bad for a bi-monthly:

Martin, I see that 2 of your stories are on this list. Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're the only author with more than one story on this list. Where can read these and your other stories online?

Re: Galaxy's Edge
For those who have submitted to Galaxy's Edge previously, did any of you receive a confirmation that your story was received? I did not, and based on activity in The Grinder, looks like most results come back within 12 days or so. My story's been out 14 days, and I just want to make sure Galaxy received it. Otherwise, I'm afraid it either a) didn't send to the right place, or b) got lost in the mix. Of course, another option is c) "We're taking more time to review your story because it was just so awesome!" lol But that's probably being too hopeful ;-)

MIne was submitted 57 days ago. Having misplaced Mike's email address, I sent it to the general submissions when the slush pile was opened to non-invitees for the first time two months ago. It looks as though Mike's continued to reply promptly to those that go direct to him, but very little activity is being recorded in the general slush pile. Nor has this general pile been sending out acknowledgments as Mike does. Since I've now found his address again, I was wondering whether to send it direct or whether duplication would just cause confusion.

Oh boy . . . thanks, Ishmael. Mine went to the general slush. Looks like I might have to hold my breath until the six-week waiting period is over before querying. Did you query at six weeks and, if so, did anyone get back to you?

On the Grinder, I usually refer to the Submission timeline tab for any particular publication. For Galaxy's Edge, you will see a huge mound of purple on the right side which represents the slush pile since they opened it up to general submission and very few red or green marks during that time. This indicates that they are not actively sending out responses yet (the red and green in this period is likely, as Ishmael indicated, the submissions sent directly to Mike). Certainly you can query at six weeks, but this is not unusual when a market opens up for the first time and is getting their processes in order.

Re: Galaxy's Edge
Actually six weeks would be unusually rapid for quite a number of publishers. I tend to query around ninety days unless I've a reason to wait longer - e.g. I submitted at the beginning of a window and the publisher doesn't take a serious looks before the close.

Re: Galaxy's Edge
If you look at the 237 pending responses, they're showing a mean of 41 days, median of 44. So six weeks might be optimistic.

You might want to check out their website. On their submissions page there is info about a problem with submissions and what to do about it. Specifically it says:
However, in the last two days we have been alerted to a problem with our new Submissions Email Account, discovering that we never received submissions from several authors, nor did we receive their follow up emails to that same email account (not found in inbox or spam/junk folders). Since we were still receiving submissions from other authors, we were unaware that not all of them were getting through to our account until the six week waiting period ended and the authors contacted us through other means, such our FB page.
We apologize for any delay or confusion this has caused, and by the end of next week we will have a new Form Portal created on the Submissions Page of the Galaxy’s Edge website that will eliminate this problem. Until then, if you have sent a story to us and have not received a reply, please contact Lezli@arcmanor.com.

FYI...I forwarded my original submission (May 3rd) to Lezli and she passed it on to the editorial staff. She said to allow up to an additional 30 days before hearing anything back. Glad they were able to figure out what happened and get it taken care of.
