My story, "So Sad, the Lighthouse Keeper" in Coeur de Lion's Anywhere But Earth just scored another great review.

I think this book will go down as a must-read in modern science fiction. The scope of the stories and the talent of the contributing authors is astounding. It really is a fantastic array of ideas and style. If you’re a sci-fi fan, you’ll dig this book. If you’re not, it’s a great place to start. And if you know someone who says they don’t like sci-fi and you want to try to convert them, buy them this book. There were a handful of stories that didn’t really work for me, but that’s the case with any anthology. And this one has 29 stories, so there’s definitely something for everyone and I would bet that the majority of people would really groove with the majority of stories in here. Probably the standouts for me were Penelope Love’s SIBO, William R D Wood’s Deuteronomy, Robert Hood’s Desert Madonna, Damon Shaw’s Continuity, Brendan Duffy’s Space Girl Blues, Angela Ambroz’s Pyaar Kiya and Steve Cameron’s So Sad, The Lighthouse Keeper. Although the real star of that last story is a secondary character. In fact, a brick.

Dame's story was also mentioned. Alan Baxter, the reviewer, is a well known writer here in Australia - and he did have a story in the Anthology.

But, a 2nd great review that mentions my story...

Not a fiction-writing success per se, but my review of William Gibson's new nonfiction collection Distrust That Particular Flavor is now live at Digital Science Fiction: http://digitalsciencefiction.com/book-review-distrust-that-particular-flavor-by-william-gibson/

I'd love for anyone who reads it to comment/respond using the form below the article.

Thanks! I'd love to hear your thoughts on the story when you're finished, be it through PM or email. "Lachiga" hasn't gotten any reviews on its own yet, so I have no idea what sort of reaction it's getting.

It seems I've gotten my first acceptance at the Daily Science Fiction. It will be my first sale and coincidentally my first professional sale. I'm waiting on the contract now, but needless to say: YIIIPPEEEEE!

wotf054

Great big King Kong-sized THANKS to everyone who critiqued the story for me! (It's flash and I've only ever written one flash piece. So if you read a bit of flash for me, I'm talking to you.)

I sent it to DSF thinking I could get a quick reject before sending it to WOTF. Now I won't know if it would have gotten placed somewhere on the spectrum, and I'm okay with that!

Congrats, Strycher!

Does this mean we'll be seeing you over on the SFWA website's forum now, too? We're secretly planning an Associate-member takeover and need all the help we can get. Don't tell anyone, and especially don't post about it to any public forums....

Congrats!! They are a fantastic market to work with and have a very simple, friendly contract and they've always paid me on time. wotf008

(though Daily SF can't be *that* picky, they've bought like 5 stories from me and I'm a hack...)

I'm glad to hear you say that. The e-mail I got, said they would be sending a contract "shortly" but it's been like SEVEN hours! wotf022 Sorry, first sale, actin' foolish. I think my five minutes of happy-dance time are up, so I'd better get back to my word count.

I appear to have sold my WOTF workshop 24-hour story to Analog.

Martin already picked up on this, but, hey, that *is* my name in Duotrope.
