An excellent week here at Chateau Cameron. Probably the best week in writing I've had in more than six months.

A personal rejection from Asimov's and a personal rejection from Analog (my first).

I was shortlisted for a Ditmar award (An Australian SF award) - Best New Talent. My second year running.

The forthcoming 'After Death' anthology was reviewed in Publishers Weekly, and my story was one of those mentioned by name.

And, I sold a story to Andromeda Spaceways.

As I said, a pretty solid week.

cheers

I've been away on a study trip for a few weeks, and hadn't read back on this thread.

Congrats to Ember on the DSF sale, Preston on the ASIM sale (I notice in the grinder David Steffen has also sold to ASIM. I wonder if we'll all be in the same issue?)

Also, to Alex on the interview, Stewart on the haiku,

Great band, and a song called Haiku just for you (although I prefer Peter Blegvad's solo version)

Anyone I missed? Congrats to you too.

After several rounds of minor edits, Bill Snee at the team of Dark Expanse, an MMO strategy game, has approved my short story "Loud, for All the Stars to Hear," and requested an invoice for final payment. This marks my third fiction sale at professional rates, and my first time writing for a video game property--something I could definitely get used to! I'll post a link if and when the story goes public. (There's a slight possibility that it'll be chosen as an in-gameplay text, but I'm thinking/hoping they'll use it in the Game Bible instead.)

Congrats Alex!

Here is my newest for those not on Facebook:

I think since Mike Resnick said I can spill the beans, he asked me to do a Stellar Guild book with him this summer (well, he will start writing this summer and I'm going to try to do half of my half before that and the rest when he's done with the novel he's working on now.)

In other news I got a call yesterday morning that my novel is one of five finalists in a RWA (romance writers of america) contest. My novel is a SF with strong romantic elements. I was only eligible for the contest since I do in fact have a romantic element in the story. Romance contests don't usually come with fame and fortune, but they do create waves that can lead to publications or interest from agents. This contest is judged blind, so they are unaware of my previous win a few weeks ago. This story is not related to my WOTF win either. Completely separate story.
