klaatu wrote:An excellent week here at Chateau Cameron. Probably the best week in writing I've had in more than six months.

A personal rejection from Asimov's and a personal rejection from Analog (my first).

I was shortlisted for a Ditmar award (An Australian SF award) - Best New Talent. My second year running.

The forthcoming 'After Death' anthology was reviewed in Publishers Weekly, and my story was one of those mentioned by name.

And, I sold a story to Andromeda Spaceways.

And the month continues.

I didn't win the Ditmar - that went to my very good friend and crit buddy, David McDonald (hereafter referred to as 'The Talentless Hack!'.) ;)

But, I have been shortlisted for two more Awards (the Chronos - which is a state award, while the Ditmar is the national award) for Best Short Story and Best Fan Writer.

And I sold another story and have a further two on hold at different mags.

Ah yes, these are the halcyon days at Chateau Cameron.

cheers

Make that three sales in three weeks. I've just received an acceptance for one of the stories on hold (after only 48 hours) with a request to send more stories.

The results for the IGMS readers' poll are in--and my story "Sojourn for Ephah" (which was also a finalist in WotF) took second place!

Second place to none other that "The Butcher of Londinium"! Congrats, Greenroom!

Thanks, Marina! And grats yourself on 2nd place and the story sale :)

In related (braggage) news, I made a second sale to IGMS earlier this year and it's out in the current issue (#33). It's called "Thirteen Words", and it's a revised and expanded version of the story I wrote at Viable Paradise last year.

Also grats to Tina (who seems to have good news all over the place!) and to everyone else in this thread as well.

Been really busy lately, so I haven't had much time to stop by the forums, but I have had an interesting week with indie publishing. My sci-fi tale about augmented reality in the year 2052 called The Digital Sea has been at #1 for the last week on the cyberpunk list.

http://www.amazon.com/The-Digital-Sea-ebook/dp/B004GUSB5G/ref=la_B004QVVEJA_1_3_title_1_kin?ie=UTF8&qid=1367342712&sr=1-3

wotf007

The fun part is sales for book two and three in the trilogy have started to trickle in. It's good to have options, especially when this book was turned down by big publishing for about three years straight before I jumped in and published it myself (I did receive some nice personal rejections though).

Congrats everyone!! Every time I look at this thread there is more good news.

I sold one of my re-worked WOTF HMs to "When the Hero Comes Home 2" anthology, which comes out this August (see table of contents here http://gabrielle-edits.com/2013/04/30/hero2-toc/). The anthology is in print, and my story will only be in the ebook version, but I'm still thrilled to be included with some amazing authors, including Andrea who won Q3 last year. Also, my favorite author when I was growing up was Mercedes Lackey...so when I saw her in the table of contents it pretty much made my day!

Keep the success stories rolling in!!

Spring seems to be a very good season all around. Congrats to everyone.

I, too, have news: a story in ASIM's Issue 57 (out now) and another in Penumbra's June/HG Wells issue.

Woohoo!

Go Dantzel, Jackie, and HL! wotf010

I just published a very long e-mail to my work colleagues in which I attempted to defuse pointless kvetching about pointless nonsense by calling for logic and rational decision-making.

...

Does that get me anything? (maybe it should have gone in the 5 minute rant section instead. Image
