And congratulations on your first publication Dave
To join in on the festivities, I've sold a story as well. But I'm unable to give any further details until it's announced publicly :\
Success!

More good news for me, one week after my first sale, I got a second sale, this one to the Shadows of the Emerald City anthology, a collection of horror stories related to the Wizard of Oz.
My good friend Frank Dutkiewicz (often known in forum-space as Snapper) also made it into the same anthology, so it will be cool to share a table of contents with him.

Well Done! Keep writing.

I'm pumped. I just sold a story to Analog! This is my first pro-level sale (and so the race is on -- will I win WOTF before I disqualify myself?) and to a market that some pro writers try for years before getting into -- not that I haven't been trying for years myself. (I haven't even heard from Stan yet, I just got the contract from Dell in the mail.)
A light hearted short-short, but hey, it's a sale, and to Analog!

WOW!!!! That is so cool!
Don't forget, it doesn't count towards disqualification until it's in PRINT. So it doesn't count against you yet.

Big congrats, Alastair! Way to go. Now don't wallow in this success too long. Get crack-a-lackin on that next story.

Huge congrats Alastair! Making it into one of the Big Three is a great accomplishment. So, care to share what kind of hysterics you went into when you got the news?
Congrats Alastair! Excellent news!

So, I heard back from the editors and I'm able to share my happy news now
.
I recently sold a story to DAW Books in their forthcoming anthology "The Dragon and the Stars." It's a collection of SF/F short stories by Chinese writers OUTSIDE of China. All the stories in the antho will be set in China and draw from Chinese culture/mythology for their speculative elements. It's def a pro sale and even has royalties to boot
. (Although not expecting much from royalties for an antho!)

I will definitely have to check it out. That's so fantastic Emery!

That's great, Emery, congratulations! I remember DAW from back when all their books used to have the yellow spine, definitely one of the landmark publishers in the genre.

Congratulations indeed! Mental image of snowball atop mountain, long static, overlooking infinite vistas below, the world laid out before it ... its center of gravity now begins to shift, edging into motion, begins to roll ... growing larger and larger as it descends ... rolling faster, growing larger! That is your growing, speeding Success!
Except, well, for it to work as a mental image you're not descending, you're ascending to greater Success up the mountaintop, Emery!
But it's Sci-Fi and Fantasy we're talkin' here, so gravity be damned, you're snowballing up the mountain of Success!
