Hi guys,
I've received an acceptance for a story from OSC's IGMS. More details when it's published (which should be pretty soon...they move from acceptance to publication pretty quickly it seems).

Hey Strycher,
195 days, but there was a re-write request and other delays. It's an outlier for IGMS.

My acceptance from IGMS (for the story currently up there) came at 236 days. Also an outlier.

Re: Success!
Mine was 126.
This is why longer waits are not necessarily rant-worthy for us neo-peeps. Longer waits often = serious consideration.
Writing seems to go like this: newbies get quick responses, mostly form Rs, because the gauntlet is thrown down early. We're booted at the first or second stage. Once we start getting somewhere our wait stretches out to foreeeeeeever, because while the story is getting passed up the line, it has to go through the entire line. And then once we've got some solid street-cred we skip some steps and end up back around the original wait time we had when we were green. And, if we acheive BIG NAME status we go straight to the head of the line and probably get our yes/no in the blink of an eye compared to everyone else.
It's a process, and as always, your milage may vary.

Aw, thanks! It was a little over two months ago, and I didn't come right out and say it was IGMS at the time--wanted to wait until I'd done some edits and made it "official." It'll be in the next issue--but it would have been awesome to share an issue with Nick!

And... I'm doubly excited to follow in greenroom's steps. Sojourn for Ephah is the cover story for issue 30: http://www.intergalacticmedicineshow.com/
And Eric Wilkerson's illustration is beautiful!
I'm incredibly honored.
