So, for the cormorant lady, here's one I photographed earlier:

Image

This one was in Kinderdijk, Netherlands, where the polder are several feet below river level and windmills are still used to lift groundwater over the dyke.

The thing I love about your stories, Rebecca, is the seemingly effortless ease with which you create such atmosphere. Nice to get an interview, too. Onwards and upwards now!

Thanks, Lawrence, Preston, Ishmael, and amoskalik! I appreciate it!

And Ishmael, that is a fabulous photo. I'm jealous that you've been the the Netherlands.

Well, I was beginning to think that the four acceptances in January and February were a flash in the pan (old musketry term folks) and normal service had been resumed. However, I am pleased to report an acceptance of a 7,500 word story by Albedo 2.0

This will be my seventh published flash / short story in total (fifth this year) and the first outside North America / Canada.

Thanks Rebecca and George.

I got a little carried away. I should have said my seventh acceptance not seventh publication, since two of the four accepted earlier this year are still in the works and only two have actually been published. Still ... my excuse is I'm a bit excited!

Thank you Aaron and Preston.

The fact is that membership of this forum has taught me a large proportion of what I know about story writing. I am grateful for all the help and advice I have received and I hope I am beginning to be in a position to reciprocate to some extent.

There is still a long way to go, but the journey no longer looks as daunting as it did. Doesn't mean I'll get there of course, but a little bit of success makes all the trying a lot easier.

Congratulations Ishmael. Reminds me my goal for the year is to win the contest or pro out. Looks like you are well ahead of me on that one.

Hm. Thanks, but still trying to improve on HM for the contest and still trying to sell a second short story at pro rates in my case. Not yet threatening either goal too closely!
