Re: Analog Submissions
Thanks, preston.
That said, I'm also mentally prepared for a form rejection.

I spoke with a former editor of one of the pro online magazines yesterday. He said that a 288-day wait time is a good sign, especially if the magazine doesn't tell you the story is lost after multiple queries. He said it is also fairly common before a pro mag takes on a new author.
I don't know if this advice applies in this situation, but at least there's a case for some optimism.
That is awesome news! Both for you and Leo.
Who knows...might end up being good news for me too :)

211 here.
I'm curious how many other people are over 200 days. Not just here, but overall.

Re: Analog Submissions
So more Analog acceptances and rejections are coming down the pike.
One writer reported an acceptance on Analog's Facebook page. I hadn't received an email yet, but I looked up my submissions in Analog's submissions system and my 141-day story had received a rejection, though the 292-day one is still listed as open.
Perhaps a flurry of emails will come out tomorrow morning?

Re: Analog Submissions
Submission Grinder has a 141 day rejection listed right now, but I suspect more will come in as people check email during the day.
I don't know how I'd feel being so close to 300. Hopefully, I won't know. Ever.

4 responses on the Grinder today, 3 on Duotrope, ranging from 138 to 141 days. (I'm guessing one of the 141s was Sean's?)

Yeah, the 141 on Duotrope was mine. I never received an email, but it had been updated in the online submissions system.

At least that's good news for mine. It's at 214 right now.
Still haven't heard anything on my query though.

Re: Analog Submissions
Well, an interesting theory there about why it is taking so long.
It would explain why my story was rejected so quickly--comparatively speaking.
Or I could say the fact that my story was rejected so quickly--comparatively speaking--supports that theory.

Passing on what the Grinder folks are saying: The site had some issues and they had to restore the database from a backup taken early this week. Anything since then will have to be re-entered. They don't expect a repeat.

Re: Analog Submissions
I had to reenter my WotF submission.
I just sent the guys $15. Figure, now's a good time.
Mistakes in my line of work (business) are often costly, so whenever a friend makes one I try to do the opposite of rage. (If it was a mistake, that is.)
Now if only my customers would do that.

I think at 300 days, you strip down to your loincloth, pick up your sword, and charge the offices screaming, " THIS IS SPARTA!!!!!"
Or query again, but keep your sword ready.

I am getting a bit sad about the whole thing.

Re: Analog Submissions
Hey I got a story similar to your day counts.
Two days over the usual. Hey, it's at F&SF and their day is probably like a month or two at Analog.
Probably get the rejection tomorrow, the story is looong so if they do read the whole thing it might take a while.
