Thank you all very much. It is a very nice feeling to receive good wishes from friends all over the world. They are warmly reciprocated.

Another excellent story, Rebecca. Nice twist on the time-travel trope.
Thanks, Preston, glad you liked it! I actually am supremely uncomfortable with time travel stories, but I was at a workshop where we were informed we would be writing two time travel stories, and so we did, and this was one of them. It's a difficult task to write outside your comfort zone, but I found it to be a rewarding experience, too.
I somehow missed telling you, Rebecca, that I read Blink Twice and enjoyed it! And I would never have guessed from reading it that you weren't comfortable with time travel stories. That means you get double points for it or something like that, right? =D

I am pleased to report that the rewrite request received last month has now turned into an acceptance. The Sockdolager has found one of my rare ventures into Victoriana to its taste. 4400 words.
I don't know whether you guys are all familiar with the urban myth about London buses - you wait for an hour and then three come along at once? Well in each of 2013 and 2014 this would-be scribe made one sale. So far in 2015 there have been three. The title of the most recent? - The Man on the Church Street Omnibus.
I do believe The Norns are still laughing.

Re: Success!
Thank you, George, Elinor, Rebecca and Thomas.
I really do think I have learned a lot just by hanging around on this forum. When I arrived here I had some very strange ideas about story structure that really didn't work. I'm not saying I can write like DF now, but at least I don't think I still write like a complete amateur. Some of my old stories can be salvaged now I have a better idea of what I'm doing. One of the three acceptances this year was an old story with a good idea that got a very serious makeover once I knew how.
Of course now I have to try and do it right first time and that's still hard!

Heeeey! Nice!
Congratulations!

Maybe we'll share the ToC. (They're reprinting a non-narrative academic post-apocalyptic fairy tale classification scheme uh... story of mine. <I have category issues.>)

My humorous flash fiction story "How to Configure your Quantum Disambiguator," is up today at Nature.
It's about evil twins, giant bananas, parallel universes, shiny red buttons, quantum superposition, and implausible help desk hours. (More or less.)
Here's a link: http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v5 ... html#close
Also, for added erudition/obnoxious-authorness, here's my author commentary: http://blogs.nature.com/futurecondition ... the-story/

Re: Success!
And it's me again.
Just wanted you to know that the SFComet contest for January is actually happening right now. The stories are available (in Chinese only) on WeChat and Weibo. The stories are published anonymously and the voting's done on WeChat and the SFComet site. I don't know if any of you can read Chinese, but if you can the five stories are here and the voting's done here.
Well, may the best story win! Whatever happens, I'm quite content with being published on SFComet and translated in Chinese for the first time

Good luck George! A great opportunity.
I tried emailing SFComet and the message was bounced, so I'm having another try. We'll see.

That's great, Stewart!
You shouldn't worry if they take too long to confirm. Every time I was waiting for them to do something (reply to my first email, send me the contract, send me the theme, post the line-up, upload the stories, begin the voting process, anything) it took a lot more time than I'd been told it would take. Of course it might just be this one time they had delays, but anyway don't worry, they'll come to it eventually.

Congrats to so many successes. It's helpful to find commiseration among others on the forum going through the rejection mill, and so encouraging to see so many finding success. Especially sometimes after frustrating struggles. Kudos all!

Thank you George. The Pony Express finally got through (at this second address) and produced a very swift acknowledgement. Now I guess comes the waiting to see if I'm selected. I mailed them a link to Spatchcock which I hope will do my talking for me.
