Incidentally, i am visiting your fair country this week to attend an arts workshop. Between classes i will definitely be taking some writerly advantage of the setting. It's absolutely beautiful

Most people's standard of living has deteriorated, but we're still much better off than, say, people in the Balkans or most Eastern European countries. Personally, I tend to think of it as having financial troubles; that's something that could happen to anybody, anywhere. It will wear off, eventually.

Way back in the late 1990s when I was teaching economics, I remember explaining to my students that the politicians had wisely drawn up a set of entry criteria for the new single European currency and then unwisely ignored their own rules when it turned out that hardly any country would meet them by the set date (or indeed at all.) 'You will see,' I told them 'that this system will now generate intolerable internal strains because these foolish people think political will can over-rule economic forces.'
I remember at the time being called a xenophobe and anti-European and all sorts of rude names. I remember being completely isolated in my opinion. Alas today I find myself entirely surrounded by people who it turns out held my view all along but can't remember me saying it at the time. However, if I could have chosen the time to be proved right I would have tried to avoid a time when the Dodecanese were trying to cope with a refugee crisis.
I do hope you're right and we are all able to come through it together.

Dustin Adams wrote:Hey, thanks Amos.
I was surprised. I hold my breath for the good news/bad news e-mails, but this time a straight acceptance on a flash.
The story is called, "A New Man In Time For Christmas" so maybe a December release?

Liz, I hope you did have a good time! I'd really no idea where Nea Kallikratia is, I had to Google it -- but I saw it's in Halikidiki and I know that's supposed to be nice
