What kind of essay? An informative essay like an extended news article, a persuasive essay written to sway the reader to a certain point of view or a personal essay which is more of a creative nonfiction piece?
Informative essay:
Tell what you're going to tell - Introduction
Tell it - Body
Tell what you told - Conclusion
Persuasive essay:
Introduction - Raise the alarm with the most visceral reason for change (i.e. If you want to persuade the audience to bring their pitchforks to bear against aliens, you first tell them that the aliens ate your puppy, not that they landed their ship on your garden.). Ask a personal question to raise cognitive dissonance (Why are you playing Fantasy Lord when aliens are eating puppies? Do you want them to eat your puppy, too?).
Body - Plan of attack and audience reward. (We're going to poke them with our pitchforks and watch the green goo ooze out of them. Then we'll all hop in the space ship and fly off for ice cream. Sprinkles for everyone!)
Conclusion - Relieve cognitive dissonance. (You'll attain a higher rank in Fantasy Lord now that you've dispatched puppy eating aliens. Good for you.)
[Note: in the above examples, never use a personal pronoun. If you have to refer to yourself, use 'the author' or 'this author.' Also, paraphrase rather than quote, but still give credit using the instructor's preferred referencing style (MLA or APA). If you must quote, put the entire quote in quotation marks, not italics.
Creative Nonfiction Essay:
Tell a third person, age appropriate story about a rotten time in your life. Young - Fork You An angst-filled story about why you showed up at your date's house with a meat fork sticking out of your thigh. Middle Age - Fork It A story about how showing up at your date's house with a meat fork sticking out of your thigh changed your life and why everyone should give it a try. Old Fart - Fork of Destiny A story about the mystery of pain and its tremendous importance to the maturation process. Angry Old Fart - Fork Off
Good luck,

I already reported it. I think kentagions was expressing the same feelings, albeit in a different way.
If you are in difficulties with a book, try the element of surprise: attack it at an hour when it isn't expecting it. ~ H.G. Wells

And you were super-helpful, too! Almost made me wish I had to write an essay. (Only, not really.
