Hi all!

Brand new here. I just submitted for the very first time today. Keeping my expectations in check, but it was exciting to click the "submit" button!

A quick question for more seasoned folks: about how long should I expect it to take before a decision is made? I looked around in other threads but couldn't find anything.

It varies from quarter to quarter. Q1 is usually the longest to wait for results (mid to late April is common), Q2 tends to take a while (two to three months, if I remember correctly), and Q3 and Q4 come the quickest (one to two months).

I'm on my final round of polishing, then it's off to the submission form in a few days. No way I'm waiting until the last minute like last quarter . . . that was a nightmare.

Just want to reiterate that I'm happy to read anyone's stories over the next ten days! I'm between projects at the moment so I can do 24 hours or less turnaround time. Good luck with the final push!

Ack, the conclusion of another quarter draws near. My, er, "first choice" story is with another market--will wait to see if I get that rejection back before the 30th. If not, I have a different story waiting in the wings...

Funny, I used to write stories specifically for the contest. Now I just... write stories, and figure out which one to submit when the deadline draws near. This probably isn't a good strategy, but my old strategy hasn't worked yet either.

Yikes! That definitely snuck up. I haven't been writing for the past three weeks due to illness and "life events," but I think I have a story to submit.

Friendly reminder: save yourself some stress and try to get it in the day before the deadline folks! The submission system always closes down early.

Ahhh! Finally submitted. Went over final revisions and I was pleasantly surprised that I actually enjoyed it a whole lot (this is always surprising to me, as immediately after I finish something I usually hate it and think its awful).

Hey Gang,

Long time follower, first time poster. I don't consider short stories my field of expertise, but I'm getting better. Anyway, keep fighting the good fight my friends. Oh, and I just submitted my story, so let the twitching begin.

Still going through crits and doing the final polish. I should probably do an outloud read through, as well, but this one is at the upper word limit ...

Crud, it's one day before the deadline and I still haven't decided what story to send! Neither of my options even remotely resembles anything in the anthology. wotf018

I too am in. It's as polished as I can make it. All I can do is give it a pat on the back and tell it, "Go, little story, go! You can do it!"
Good luck, all! Don't wait until the last day. Submit!
