So, uh, Storysinger...I take it you are going to drink your espresso while reading the paper (or critiquing a shortstory), jam out on some radical tunes, do a little work...then go clubbing?

Close but no cigar. When I'm in writing mode I get up at least once an hour to stretch and walk around a bit.

Blargh, I just discovered I'm probably going to be working very late for the next three weeks, which completely blows my plans for editing this story out of the water, I don't feel like I'll have resolved my issues with it by then.

I have a fall-back position though, another story I had sidelined to elaborate, edit, and submit if I was struggling. So I'm going to tie that one up, polish it off, and send it in instead. I'm a little disappointed, as I'd really been looking forward to sending in this other one, but hey, at least I already know exactly what my Q3 entry is going to be..

I switched as well, but earlier on. I outlined the first story, but it just didn't have any Umph. So, I took some things I liked out of it and added them to an old idea that I always meant to write but was missing parts. Hopefully the spare parts from story 1 will complete story 2. But I am so fond of story 2 and it is so full of feels, I am afraid I will not do it justice in the time I have left.

This one is similar, a challenging story to write well -- but I think I was close to having it. Just not close enough to get it there before the deadline with everything else going on. So it'll shunt to Q3, and get submitted then. I'm not so unhappy about it today, though, as being pushed back onto this other story has made me look at it more closely, and I've quickly turned it into something I'm pretty happy with. It'll be ready in time for sure, and I'll be happy submitting it.

Need BIG work, but I'm way ahead of my normal schedule or last minute...literally. Maybe I'll go crazy this quarter and submit a day early. Who am I kidding.

I like my Q1 entry, but to be honest I want to get Q1 out the way. I like my Q2 entry a lot more. It's Q2 results I want.

oh... but then again... the entries I like usually get 'R' and my faulty entries get 'HM'. Surely, my Q2 will do better than 'HM'. These results take tooooooo long.

Sent mine in today. But I am moving this weekend, so by offline for the weekend. I will have to change my phone number. I put in my new address but haven't changed phone numbers yet. And no to a cell phone. By changing servers too but I might be able to keep my e-mail address for a while.

And haven't been here much the last year or more but since Google+ is ending for non business people I might be able to get myself to remember to come by.

And oh, I used a different story than planned. Still haven't finished the story I started for this quarter. Not sure why. Maybe I turned left when I should have turned right. Anyway, I was doing a story for another reason and decided I was doing a good job with a couple of scenes. Of course a couple of well done scenes, if they really are, won't sell the story but maybe the whole thing is worth some attention or more.

Good luck everyone! I didn't think I had anything for this month, but I recently had a positive rejection from elsewhere:
"The story hasn't been selected on this occasion, but I did want to send a note because I thought it was a brilliant effort for such a new writer... given the calibre of this submission I do hope you'll consider **** for future stories."

The reason I hadn't considered WotF until now is because the story isn't much longer than flash and has quite a dark ending. I was going to submit it to a UK horror anthology where I think it stands a better chance, but WotF is WotF and it'd be nice to keep up my run of not missing a quarter since I first submitted...

I don't remember many WotF stories with dark endings, and only one as short as mine.

Get your Q2s in! You still have two days, but don't wait until the 31st, get them in now!

If you "only have a flash and it's dark and not the stuff WOTF wants", enter anyway! You don't know what will take the judge's fancy, and better a long-shot than no entry at all.
